Woking Borough Council have paid the Landowner £11,000,000 for the small section of protected land on the southern end of the Egley Road site. This now brings the total paid £17,350,000 for just over half of this greenbelt site. We were originally told that the payment was subject to planning approval being granted for the development of David Lloyd. However, like many things inside the council, secrecy seems to be order of the day.
The area in question did not receive any supporting valuation but instead relied on a Willing Seller/Willing Buyer basis. After all it's only taxpayers’ money! What is £11,000,000 between friends?
